Overview
Do you plan to go to graduate school after graduation? Are professional studies already on your radar, even though you are still pursuing your undergraduate degree? Great news: JWU’s Competitive Pathways could help get you closer to your goals — and maybe even save you valuable time.
Depending on your program, your Competitive Pathway could allow you to start on your graduate coursework while completing your first degree or move past the competition with a guaranteed interview to a JWU specialty program. JWU offers competitive pathways for the following majors:
- Biology
- Exercise & Sports Science
- Healthcare Administration
- Health Science (B.S. offered in Providence and Charlotte*)
- Psychology (B.S. offered in Providence and Charlotte*)
- Public Health (B.S. offered in Providence and Charlotte*)
*Note: Charlotte students looking to track into the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) and who receive guaranteed interviews via the competitive pathway agreement must relocate to the Providence Campus to complete the graduate portion of their study.
Find Your Pathway
If you have a plan, JWU can help you get there. Here are the current Competitive Pathways we offer.
Medical School
While not an official “pathway,” the individual advising you will receive as a Biology or Health Science student can position you to fulfill your pre-med requirements during your undergraduate program.
Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD)
You can apply to JWU’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) as a student in any major as long as you meet the academic eligibility requirements, including prerequisites. JWU’s Biology, Public Health, or Health Science bachelor’s degree programs provide a solid foundation for the OTD. JWU undergrads with a 3.0 GPA are guaranteed an interview for the Occupational Therapy Doctorate and may be eligible for the Wildcat Alumni Scholarship to the doctorate program.
Physician Assistant Studies (PA)
As with the OTD pathway, you can apply to JWU’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) as a Biology, Exercise & Sports Science, or Health Science student if you meet academic and experiential eligibility requirements and earn a guaranteed interview. Even before PA school, you’ll learn from the same faculty who teach in the program at the undergraduate level, and they readily share the knowledge and skills you will need to succeed.
