Johnson & Wales University to Offer 21 New Online Programs

This fall, Johnson & Wales University (JWU) will expand its online academic catalog, adding 21 new programs to its College of Online Education. The addition of these programs, including the recently announced doctorates in occupational therapy (OTD) and business administration (DBA), brings the university’s total online degree offerings to 56, more than half its 2022 goal of 90 programs.

Students may pursue undergraduate degrees online from the John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business, College of Engineering & Design, College of Health and Wellness or College of Hospitality Management for the following:

  • BS Food Industry Compliance Management
  • BS Residential Hospitality Management
  • BS Accounting
  • BSBA Business Administration
  • BSBA Management
  • BS Computer Science
  • BS Digital Marketing & Social Media
  • BS Public Health
  • BS Psychology

Graduate students seeking online programs from JWU may pursue:

  • MBA Information Security/Assurance
  • MBA Organizational Leadership
  • MBA Organizational Psychology
  • MBA Sport Leadership
  • MPA General
  • MPA Criminal Justice
  • MPA Non-profit Management
  • MS Data Analytics
  • MS Global Tourism & Sustainable Economic Development
  • MS Organizational Psychology

Digital marketing & social media, public health, sport leadership, data analytics and global tourism & sustainable economic development programs will be available to students both online and in the classroom. The computer science program will be available online in 2018 and in the classroom in 2019. Undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, management and psychology were previously available only in the classroom.

“A robust portfolio is necessary to succeed in the increasingly competitive online market in higher education,” said Cindy Parker, Ed.D., dean of the College of Online Education. “Thorough market research is conducted on all proposed programs before development to ensure program viability. These 21 new programs, which were identified and developed through collaboration with JWU’s faculty, deans, administration and leadership, are in established and emerging academic fields that naturally align with JWU’s expertise in business, culinary, hospitality, technology and health and wellness.”
