Study Abroad

Broaden your horizons and make lasting memories! Immerse yourself in a new culture, make new friends and try new experiences while studying abroad. With many businesses seeking candidates who have an international perspective, this is  a great opportunity to learn about the arts, history, social structures and customs of another country. Study abroad opportunities range from learning about fashion in London to spending a semester at sea to designing your own study abroad program.

Research & Fieldwork

Apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios when you enroll in a fieldwork or research program. JWU offers numerous research and fieldwork opportunities across different majors including OTD, psychology, biology and more. Sample courses include Undergraduate Laboratory and Field Research, Undergraduate Research Experience, Research Seminar in Psychology and Research and Inquiry.

Experiential Labs & Facilities

JWU’s labs are designed to promote hands-on learning to help you prepare for entering a career in your chosen field. Study cardiovascular systems in Providence’s Anatomy Lab and document cases at the Clinical Practice Center, both located in the 18,000-square-foot Center for Physician Assistant Studies. Study food development at the Microbiology and Chemistry Lab in Charlotte or learn about organic, sustainable gardening at The Coop, Charlotte’s student-run garden. Luxury Hospitality Careers Thrive: JWU at The Beatrice Hotel

The Beatrice Hotel, an independently-run, luxury boutique hotel in Providence, RI, has JWU alum Jennifer Curtin ’13 at the helm as general manager. Since opening the hotel in 2021 Curtin has hired several JWU alums and students to help keep the hotel's guest experience at the highest level.

10 Health & Wellness Students Published in Rhode Island Medical Journal

Ten JWU students — some still undergrads, others newly minted alumni — recently saw their names in print, not in a school paper or class project, but in the Rhode Island Medical Journal. The June 2025 issue features a special section of research around the topic of young adult mental health, a growing public health issue, which debuted six original research studies by students and faculty.
