Academics
Serious Learning. Real Outcomes.
At Johnson & Wales, academics are powered by experience. Our students don’t just learn about a subject — they engage with it through hands-on projects, real-world problem solving and classroom experiences that mirror the professional world. From the start, you'll build the skills and confidence to lead in your field.

Undergraduate Programs
In our undergraduate program, you’ll take classes in your major during your first year, immersing yourself in relevant courses and gaining experiences to build your résumé. Explore more than 55 majors. JWU also offers three-year bachelor’s degrees, designed to be completed in less time — saving you money on tuition — than a traditional degree.

Accelerated Graduate Programs
Transform your path to graduate studies with one of our four flexible and affordable options like J2, where you can explore graduate-level coursework in your senior year at JWU. Or if you’re certain of your career path, apply for a Combined Undergrad/Grad program and enter the graduate program after completing your undergraduate degree.
Built for the Real World
Every course, project and experience is designed to build the skills, confidence and connections that set you apart so you can excel in the workplace.

- Industry-Connected Classrooms: Courses are shaped by what employers need now — and in the future.
- Faculty with Field Experience: Learn from pros who’ve worked in the industries they teach.
- Career-Ready from Day One: Gain practical skills that prepare you to lead, not just follow.
- Experience in Every Major: From your first year forward, every major includes built-in applied learning.

Faculty Who Open Doors
Not only do our professors bring their lived, industry-relevant experiences to the classroom so students can learn from real-world examples, they also leverage their networks, bringing experts to campus, arranging site visits and making introductions to facilitate internship and job opportunities. Professors often enlist students in research projects, leading to published studies in journals and invitations to present at national conferences.

Tools of the Trade, At Your Fingertips
From high-fidelity nursing mannequins to chocolate and sugar labs, JWU’s hands-on spaces are designed to mirror the real world. Hospitality students train in restaurants and commercial kitchens. The Exercise Science Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art tools like the BOD POD® for body composition analysis. Media and design students have access to professional studios, editing suites and industry software. Whatever your major, you’ll learn by doing — with the same tools the pros use.
