Exercise and Sports Science Careers
The demand for skilled graduates from this field is skyrocketing. Occupations in exercise science are growing at a rate of 20% and have a predicted annual growth rate of 17% nationally until 2029. That’s much faster than the average growth rate for all occupations at 9% per year. In short, JWU’s exercise science program will set you up for success in your profession so you can dive in and start building your life right away.
Competitive Pathway Program
Another bonus: You can apply to JWU’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) or Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program as a student in the Exercise Science major. If you meet academic and experiential eligibility requirements, you can move past most of the competition with a guaranteed interview by Physician Assistant admissions staff as part of our Competitive Pathway program for select undergraduate programs.

Exercise and Sports Science students will get to build skills in two brand new labs with state-of-art equipment.
The Human Performance Lab is designed to help athletes develop strength, speed, flexibility, balance and power. Its features include two Olympic-sized platforms in front of expansive windows with a MEGA power rack developed for power training, a dumbbell weight rack, two ball racks, a back extension system and two FMS devices that assess for risk of injury in athletes, including those in the NFL. A Biodex isokinetic testing device will enable students and faculty to predict rotator cuff or hamstring injuries in athletes.
The Exercise Science Lab will allow faculty and students to do firsthand clinical practice and conduct cutting-edge research on health, fitness and nutrition. Its state-of-the-art equipment will nurture expert clinicians and researchers in the health and wellness field.
