Johnson & Wales University 2018 Commencement Ceremonies

Providence, R.I. – May 15, 2018 – Six luminaries representing a range of industry and academia will receive honorary degrees at the 2018 Johnson & Wales University (JWU) commencement ceremonies. Nearly 2,000 undergraduate and graduate degrees will be awarded at three ceremonies to be held at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19.

FRIDAY, MAY 18, 11 A.M. GRADUATE STUDIES CEREMONY

Laura Freid, Ed.D., president, Maine College of Art, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration and present the keynote address. Joseph R. Beretta, president and chief financial officer, Robinson Green Beretta Corp. (RGB), will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

Student Speaker: Marissa Ann Mayo, Master of Business Administration, from Lincoln, R.I.


SATURDAY, MAY 19, 8:45 A.M., UNDERGRADUATE MORNING CEREMONY

Graduates of the John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business, College of Engineering & Design and College of Hospitality Management will be honored. Joining them will be John E. Taylor Jr., chairman of the board, Twin River Worldwide Holdings Inc., who will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration and deliver the keynote address. Also receiving honors at this ceremony will be JWU's executive vice president and former vice chancellor, Thomas L. Dwyer. He will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

Student Speaker: Aimee Tran, bachelor of science degree in Hotel & Lodging Management with a minor in Sommelier from the College of Culinary Arts, from Saigon, Vietnam.


SATURDAY, MAY 19, 1:45 P.M., UNDERGRADUATE AFTERNOON CEREMONY

Graduates from the College of Culinary Arts and from the College of Hospitality Management-Foodservice Management degree program will have their chance to walk across the platform to receive their diploma. With them will be Maribeth N. Bisienere, senior vice president, Parks and Security, Walt Disney World, who will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration and present the keynote address. Paul F. O’Reilly, president and chief executive officer, Newport Harbor Corporation (NHC), will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

Student Speaker: Josephine Wolfe, bachelor of science degree in Baking & Pastry Arts and Food Service Management, from Baltimore, MD.
