Candidacy for accreditation is a pre-accreditation status granted to programs that have demonstrated the potential to meet the ACEND® Accreditation Standards. Students who enroll after candidacy is granted are considered to be in an ACEND®-accredited program upon successful completion of the program.

JWU’s program is an ACEND Graduate Program (GP). These programs integrate didactic coursework with supervised experiential learning in a competency-based curriculum designed to prepare nutrition and dietetics practitioners for future practice. Program graduates will be eligible to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

Effective January 1, 2024, CDR will require a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become an RDN. Johnson & Wales University’s MS in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics provides a master’s degree in addition to the coursework and supervised experiential learning required to take the credentialing exam.
