Your Next Curated Spotify Playlist – Created by JWU Students!

Jordan Millette '26, Ava Zajczenko ’27, and Mason Hemsley '27 work as student assistants at JWU, contributing to JWU News.

Music allows people to express themselves, get energized and connect with others. This creates an opportunity to explore all the different styles and artists out there today.

With multiple genres, today’s hits and music spanning decades, there’s a lot to choose from. All these options can make the choice of picking a song or playlist to listen to even more daunting — especially for students, because music is a big part of our day. We listen to it on Wildcat Wheels, going to and from work, when hitting the gym and when studying for class.

Look no further for the curated playlists of your dreams, created by and for Johnson & Wales students. Below are six playlists to get you through any occasion.

Fit Like a Wildcat:

In between classes and deadlines, the gym is a great place for students to work off some stress and build a routine of becoming a lifelong mover. Whether it’s doing a HIIT workout, running on the treadmill or bench pressing your body weight, there’s a multitude of options to choose from. With this playlist, you’ll be able to get the energetic boost you need to get going for a great workout in the gym!

Willie’s Heartbreak:

Let’s face it — we all need a good cry occasionally, and this is especially true when you get your heart broken. You may not know it, but even Willie knows a thing or two about heartache and can identify with this rite of passage. If you too are feeling heartbroken, here’s a playlist to help you let everything out.

Library Lock-In:

Midterms, finals, random pop quizzes — does it ever end?! With assignments piling up and finals nearing, procrastination can seem like the best way to deal with everything.  But with this curated playlist, trust us when we say that once you open your laptop, pull up that first assignment, hit that play button and lock in, you’ll get more work done than you thought!

Blue & Gold Y2K Beats:

Your ultimate Y2K playlist is here! It has Britney, Gaga, Kesha — what more could you want? As Y2K is making a comeback not only in fashion but also in music, here are some of the biggest names all in one playlist just for you

Whether you’re queuing for your walk to class, a night out or while getting ready, it’s the perfect playlist to get your energy up and your spirits high!

JWU (“Just Woke Up”):

I think we can all admit that we have rolled out of bed five minutes before class at least once.  Instead of hitting that snooze button next time, try turning on this playlist. It has the right amount of energy to get you moving and jump to start your day!

Timeless Tunes:

With all the mainstream pop and hit songs today, it can be hard to find something that brings you back to the music you may have listened to with your parents, when you were younger or while growing up.

This playlist has hits from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s that we all know and love! Whether it’s Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” or “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper, there’s a song in here for everyone to listen to and enjoy!

Music For Everyone

Music is something that everyone can partake in. Whether they’re hanging out with friends, smashing a workout session or driving with their parents, people can connect with one another through music.

With these playlists, created by JWU students just like you, hopefully you can listen to the songs selected and feel a little happier (unless you’re listening to Willie’s Heartbreak Playlist) and connect with others while listening!
