What are the admissions requirements?

Do I need to take the GMAT/GRE?

The GMAT/GRE is required for certain College of Business Master’s degree programs if your cumulative grade point average (GPA) does not meet the minimum required GPA for that program. Please check the GPA requirements for your program at the catalog link above. If the GMAT/GRE is necessary, scores of 450 (GMAT) 140 verbal/145 quantitative/3.0 writing (GRE) or higher are required.

How long does the application process take?

Once we receive an application for the program of your choice and all required supporting documents, it typically takes our Admissions Committee 7-10 business days to process and review your documents. Once your completed application and supporting documents have been reviewed, you will be notified either through e-mail or by letter to the address provided in your application. If any documents are invalid or incomplete, the review will be placed on hold, and we will send a reminder to submit the required documents at your earliest convenience. Once the required documents are received, your application will return to the review stage.

How do I pay my tuition and fees?

Domestic graduate students can apply for financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov. In addition, if you want to set up a monthly payment plan or make a one-time payment please visit the following sites. If you need assistance please contact your financial planner.

Is there financial aid available?

Students are eligible to apply for financial aid through the FAFSA application. Graduate students are eligible for loans only.

How can I apply for a scholarship?

JWU does not offer scholarships at the graduate level.

Are international students eligible to enroll?

Currently, international students are eligible to enroll in graduate programs at the Providence and North Miami campuses only.

How are the courses delivered?

Providence: Course delivery for most programs is in the form of face-to-face classes meeting once a week in the evening. Some courses are delivered over the full 16 week semester, others over 8 weeks, with two 8-week sessions per semester. The EdD program meets every other weekend including Friday evening and all day Saturday.

North Miami: Most MBA courses will be offered as face-to-face classes meeting once a week in the evening. A few classes will also be offered on Saturday mornings. Some courses are delivered over the full 16-week semester, others over 8 weeks, with two 8-week sessions per semester.

Denver: Courses are delivered in a hybrid format, meeting both in-person and online. Face-to-face class meetings are held primarily on weekends with a few mid-week evening sessions required each semester. Some courses are delivered over the full 16-week semester, others over 8 weeks, with two 8-week sessions per semester.

How long will it take me to complete the courses?

Length of time varies by program. However, students who are continuously enrolled at full-time status (3 classes per semester) typically finish within one and one half years.

What are my housing options?

JWU offers on-campus housing for graduate students in apartment-style living at the Providence Campus. Graduate students may also live off campus. Graduate students attending the North Miami campus live off campus.

I have a 3-year degree. Can I enroll into an MBA program?

Some international 3-year degree programs equate to a 4-year bachelor’s degree, but not all. If your degree is not equivalent, you will be required to take our 1-year pre-master’s program before you can begin work at the master’s level.The pre-master’s program provides the opportunity for qualified 3-year degree holders to earn a 4-year US bachelor’s degree while fulfilling master’s prerequisites.

The pre-master’s program is 10 classes, takes one academic year to complete and costs $5,000 per term.

Students who successfully complete the pre-master’s program are awarded a $2,000 scholarship when they matriculate into the master’s level. The pre-master’s program is only offered at the Providence Campus.

When does each semester start?

Starting in Fall 2018, graduate programs, except for master’s level education programs, are offered on a 16-week semester calendar with classes starting in August, January and May. Refer to our academic calendars for important dates.

What is the deadline to apply to the next semester?

We operate on rolling admissions, which essentially means that there are no deadlines to apply. However, please keep in mind that applying early is less stressful for you and JWU! If you are an international student, you should plan to be accepted at least eight weeks prior to the beginning of the semester in order to make visa interview appointments.

I’m an international student. Can I pick up my I-20 at the school instead of having it mailed to me?

Absolutely. In order for you to do that, please notify the Graduate Admissions Office and we will make arrangements for you to pick it up.

I was told my decision letter was mailed to me 2 weeks ago but I still haven’t received it yet. What address was it mailed to and can I have it resent to me?

Decision letters are mailed to the address stated on your application. If you have not received your letter within 10 days of the decision, please contact us.
